An Evolution
All stories come from somewhere, some from random ideas, some from inspirations. Some stories even evolve. For me, my main novel, the story I have been working on for a long time came from a mix between an original idea and an inspiration.
When I was around seven years old my love for writing was born. I would sit on my porch all day and just write. My original stories were just copies off of tv shows with new spins on it. Eventually I came up with an actual story and title, The Universal Fighters. All it was was a bunch of Dragonball Z(a cartoon) characters saving the universe. Original right? I don’t remember when but at sometime I developed a main character who’s name is Brian.
Brian was a grown man who had superpowers. After a while of writing The Universal Fighters, I would rework it and change the name to Droids. Which was about an army of aliens attacking Earth. Brian, the defender and chosen one had to protect Earth. In this alteration of the story he even had a rival, Bill. In this new story I had grasped a weak plot and stuck to it.
I can’t remember when but at some time I had remade the story into a new form called The Ultimate Legend. This story began as Brian(still the main character) as a kid who once again had to defend Earth. However, as it progressed Brian became a side character and the new main character was a boy named Garet. Bill, Brian’s rival, became an alien with a partner Dodon. The story soon engulfed that Garet was an alien as well. However, it would soon change for the better. I had plenty of notebooks filled of Ultimate Legend stories. I would then make a comic book out of Ultimate Legend. After a long time of it sitting there, I had taken a break for two years.
Though I had taken a break I still was formulating ideas. When I began to redo it, Garet was a teenager and was human. I had worked out his entire family and the plot. The plot became solid and believable. All in all, The Mesreth Stone, a legendary stone had been broken and Garet and his friends had to find the stone before the world would fall apart into chaos.
Though, I have lost all those stories from my earlier years, I still have them engraved in my memory. I still continue to work on my story though it is called The Final Legend.
Thanks for Reading,

I recycle my ideas all the time. If I didn’t like the big picture the first time around, but I liked a character or setting, I always try to incorporate it into another story.
A week or so ago, I started a story based off my desktop wallpaper. A girl in a boat. But after 700 or so words, I hit a wall that I couldn’t get through. So I mulled it over for a few days and started again. The boat and original storyline was gone, but the girl and setting I created remained. That time, I wrote the 3,000 words all in one go.
Whether or not it’s any good remains to be seen though, because I refuse to read it over again until Monday.
